Dear All,
The most important selection of portraits in Denmark is in the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle. This museum now shows a new presentation of its permanent collection and I feel privileged and happy that several of my works from this collection are displayed in the most beautiful way:
I) “The Contrapuntal Portrait” painting by H.R.H. Princess Benedikte from 2021 which shows my concept “multiversal realism” and my love for the painter Vilhelm Hammershøi in a royal portrait.
II) The portrait (quadriptych) of Michala Petri, whose official title is “The Interior and Exterior of the Air; the Instrument of Love” from 2017.
This work is a very special example of my invention “The 4 temperaments’ synesthetic portraying method ”: The model lets the music from the 4 movements of Carl Nielsen’s 2nd Symphony Opus 16; “The 4 temperaments”, take over the perception and the consciousness and thus shape the face; the invisible sound is visualized in four vastly different facial expressions of the same person.
This concept works primarily at 3 levels, that are perfectly compatible:
- As a quadriptych in its own right.
- As part of the whole process of creating a larger portrait painting.
- As a synesthetic installation in a space where it is possible to listen to the music that shaped the facial expressions of the portraits.
