The painting for the altarpiece of Maglebrænde Church in Falster, Denmark, portrays the Gospel, according to St. Luke, as an expression of our time. A visualisation from the year 2002, using realistic people in modern dress, in a contemporary setting, presents a new interpretation of the Adoration of the shephers. This piece has been directly inspired by St. Francis of Assissi’s first nativity scene using local people from the parish on Christmas Eve 1223. It forms the basis for a composition where the light itself is the main feature on many different levels.
