Den dobbelte Odyssé. Vindens Løfte

THE DOBBELTE ODYSSÉ – VINDENS LØFTE

The double Odyssey – The promise of the Wind

It was a great honour for me when I last year received the commission to portrait H.M. Queen Anne-Marie and H.M. King Constantine. The double portrait was a gift to Queen Anne-Marie for her 70th birthday.

Up until then, only two unofficial portraits from her youth existed and no painted portrait of King Constantine. Thus it was a great responsibility in relation to both the past and the present to create this painting.

Ulysses was separated from his beloved Ithaka for 20 years while the king and queen of Greece had to live away from their beloved country for almost 47 years.

“Vindens Løfte” is my homage to the faith, the togetherness and the love that made it possible for them to conquer the trials that life has offered them.

The painting is also a hymn to the Mediterranean culture that has been the setting for my life the last 22 years.
