Dear All,
Finally, we are able to announce the opening of the exhibition “Rome revisited – Homage to Bertel Thorvaldsen” within the celebration of the Terni Falls Festival 2021 in Umbria, Italy.
18th Nov – 5th Dec 2021 at 16,30 hours – Museo Diocesano – Terni
The festival and the exhibition commemorate the visit of Bertel Thorvaldsen to the Cascata delle Marmore in Terni on 14th December 1820, on his way from Copenhagen to Rome. It should also have been a celebration of the 250th anniversary of the birth of the great artist, 19th of November 1770.
Due to the pandemic restrictions the Terni Falls Festival could not take place as planned in 2020. Fortunately, although with some location readjustments, I am really pleased that the event will be celebrated this year 2021.
The basic concept of the exhibition is to reflect and focus my artistic investigation into the universe of Thorvaldsen, Eckersberg, Købke and Rome.
It is a great opportunity to pay homage to the intense experiences Rome and the Mediterranean culture have given me since 1987. Several works from the first period of my eight months in Rome are included, many of which have never been exhibited before.
A complete catalogue of the exhibition is published for the occasion. It is the first time I have taken the chance to write my own comments in the catalogue about each painting shown in the exhibition.
I will be happy to meet the ones that are able to come to the opening on 18th November at Museo Diocesano in Terni, Umbria, Italy!
